Let's face it, corporate finance can be stressful. But I believe fun is a powerful antidote. Laughter fosters a positive environment and builds strong relationships with clients. After all, life's too short to take things too seriously all the time, right?
Beyond the Boardroom: Adding Value as a Non-Executive
The other half of my day involves providing non-executive services to a portfolio of companies. This role is incredibly rewarding, which is why I'm always reachable.
Being a non-executive director goes beyond simply attending board meetings and offering seasoned advice. I actively engage in matters crucial to the well-being of the companies and their leadership.

I have been doing the job a really long time, and so have seen all the ups and downs and hurdles that are possible to see in a project (whether it is a company sale, or an acquisition or a fund raise) and can deal with them.

- I give proper no nonsense advice. Having spent many years doing the job, but also working in companies and on my own companies, I have a good commercials and strategic sense – it allows me to quickly understand significant quantities of data and come up with a judgement which is supported by those years of experience
- I like to have fun with my clients. Doing a corporate finance project comes with its share of frustration and stress. Fun is a great mitigator. And life’s too short not to have some fun right?
The other half of my day is taken up with providing non-exec services to a portfolio of companies.
I love this work. And that is why my phone is always on.
For me it isn’t just about attending a board meeting and being the guy with the white hairs of experience. It’s about getting involved in matters that are important to the well-being of the companies I work with and their managers/owners . Just as with my corporate finance work, every day is different, I meet interesting people, make great friends, and add more and diverse situations to be debated, actioned or resolved to the experience bank.
